This is probably just what the doctor ordered for an ideal holiday in a highly stressful world…the first Himalayan outing through epic high altitude mountain landscapes into wilderness trails that’s gentle and welcoming…taking you right into the heart of the Annapurnas…

As we head out from the pretty ‘city of lakes’’ – Pokhara through charming terraced villages brimming with life, we trek for several days to go between Machhapuchare and Hiunchuli. It is these gigantic peaks that seem to stand as nature’s guards to the gateway of the shimmering glacial valley that’s home to the Annapurna Sanctuary, named so because of its geographical wonders of tranquility, beauty and the celestial presence of the Hindu goddesses, Annapurna and Gangapurna. This is a massive ice laden cirque that forms some of the uppermost mountains in the world, including the dominating South Face of Annapurna. We spend some time hereabouts exploring, as we check out the famous Annapurna Base Camp, situated at 4,130m/13,550ft.

When we revert back to Pokhara we go by a different route and this will give us a dawn hike up Poon Hill before b/fast for sunrise with the gentle fresh morning air breezing over the Himalayas giving us grand views across the Kaligandaki as we see Machhapuchare (sacred fishtail peak), Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri and the towering Annapurnas. This is one of the finest initial ventures to do in the Himalaya, as the trail takes us wonderfully close to the mountains without us needing to go to the higher elevations.

We needn’t go to the roof of the world – climbing over it is enough. This is an easy going ten-day trek that wades into isolated and impressive mountains within the Annapurna Range. Our journey begins and ends in ancient Kathmandu with its multicolored temples, cobbled stone squares, and interesting shopping alleys.crew of skilled guides and the come hither trails of Annapurna will go beyond your expectations combining stunning peaks and theatrical valleys. We chill out overnight in teahouses, as you reconnect with olden ways long forgotten by a contemporary world that seems to be going astray by the day…

This inspiring amphitheatre of the Annapurna Sanctuary attracts hordes of trekkers each year, who never seem to tire of the Thespian Mountains and glaciers, including Annapurna I (8,091m), one of the world’s highest peaks.

and is one of those unique introductions to trekking, as the general altitudes are comparatively moderate and the trails are gentle enough for you to hum your favorite John Denver’s ‘country roads’’. Our itinerary is planned with precision from long experience so that you get enough to acclimatize, with grandstand views of the mountains as you get into the Sanctuary of all sanctuaries…all of this amidst contemplating on God’s greatness and love for his people…

Our trip begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara the following day to embark on our trekking. We can also cruise down a scenic highway to Pokhara as an option instead of flying. While on the trails, we are constantly enclosed with immense Himalayan peaks soaking wet with glaciers. In a nutshell, this would be a fantastic deal for ‘green horn trekkers’, where we bunk out the highest night at an elevation of 3,700m. Come one, come all, for the Sanctuary awaits your loving presence…
